GiGi New York Winter Sale... Early Access!

Catie Crossbody Bag in Slate embossed python, GiGi New York

Known for their classic shapes, beautiful colors and good quality/price, I've been a fan of GiGi New York bags and accessories for awhile. So of course I'm excited to share with you that they are having a sale! It's their Winter Sale and it officially starts on Monday, January 30th, but right now you can get early access via the following link: GiGi New York Winter Sale or just click through below...

The bag in the top photo is their Catie Crossbody bag which I received as a gift during a NYFW event last September. It's one of my fave styles included in the sale as well as the ones shown with it below. A special feature of this collection is that all of GiGi New York's accessories can be personalized with up to 3 initials. Perfect for a gift!

Today's Beauty Pick - Clinique Extreme Volume Mascara

Clinique Extreme Volume Mascara
I had been avoiding Clinique cosmetics for most of my adult life since my early experiences with them were not so great. The colors didn't work with my skin tone and the face lotions/foundations that I used made me break out. So when a Sephora make-up artist recommended I try Clinique's Extreme Volume Mascara, I was skeptical. Also, I already had a favorite mascara.

A few years ago, I decided that I wanted (and needed...) to learn how to wear mascara. Based on recommendations from friends and make-up artists, I tried a bunch which I reviewed in two posts: SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT MASCARA... and SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT MASCARA...PART II. After these trials and several years later, my fave mascara without a doubt was and has been Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! mascara. In fact, I have been wearing this one everyday for daytime as well as special events... until now.

The Clinique high impact extreme volume mascara is fantastic and a new fave. It doesn't clump, you can layer it on for a more dramatic look and it wears well throughout the day (no smudging!). I still love the one from Benefit Cosmetics, but (gasp!) I might like this Clinique one a little more. Seems to last throughout the day better and the long bristles/fuller brush help to create more volume.

Obsessed... Patch Trend & Anya Hindmarch

Always on the lookout for unexpected ways to add a little whimsy or pop of color to my more understated outfits, I was immediately attracted to the patches trend that emerged on the fashion week runways several seasons ago. Fun, a little quirky and chock full of nostalgia for the '90s, patches are an easy way to incorporate fashion's current shift for more personalization and interesting detail. The best thing about patches this time around though is that they can be luxurious, and the ones with more whimsical designs are not limited to the kids... :)

So speaking of luxurious, I've been a fan of Anya Hindmarch's accessory line and currently I'm obsessed with her 'All Over Stickers' Collection. The clutch above is from this collection. Embossed onto the leather rather than applied as patches the designs are charming and light-hearted. On a small accessory like a clutch, they make a statement but in a more subtle way. Want to get more personal? Her collection also includes individual sticker patches that you can adhere to just about anything. Made of high-quality materials (and her design), they're not cheap though...

If you need to stick to a budget and want a little DIY, you can also head over to MJ Trim for their patch collection. Although you can purchase online, I'd recommend a visit to their physical location in the garment district in NYC. Much more fun to see in person!

Below are some of my favorite Anya Hindmarch 'stickers' as well as bags:

#OOTD with a Floral Print Moto Jacket

back view of Parker floral print Cooper Jacket
Hope you all had a great weekend! We got a little snow here in New York, and it's so pretty but... cold. So as much as I enjoy hibernating at home and extra excuses for hot chocolate and coffee, kinda can't wait for warmer weather. Maybe not hot, but the kind of weather that's ideal for wearing and layering with lighter weight jackets, my fave outfit piece.

Two of my fave and most flattering jacket styles are moto jackets and bomber jackets. A shorter/cropped length, they are elongating(who doesn't want that?!) and add an edgy or fashion-forward look even when the rest of your outfit is not.

Lately, I've been obsessed with this floral print moto jacket from Parker. The floral print trend has been all over the fashion week runways for the past several seasons and continues for Spring '17. Since I'm generally not a traditional "floral print" kind of person, this is one trend that, although I often find it gorgeous, has been a bit difficult for me to embrace and incorporate into my everyday outfits. A floral print on a moto jacket, however, is one way this trend works for me and maybe for you!

Moving on...Hello 2017!

As you might have guessed, I took a little break from the blog for the holidays. This year in particular, I felt the need to take a step back, remind myself to live in the moment a bit more, and take a little time off to reflect on my current situation and goals going forward. Although I stayed active on social media, I wasn't as "plugged in" as usual. Not sure why I had a stronger urge to do this now, this year, but I'm so glad I did! It gave me a chance to re-set, and feel more inspired and motivated to tackle my goals and get better control over my life. Best of all, I was able to have more time with my family and finally make some progress on re-decorating my office and closet. Can't wait to share it with you! :)

As I write this post, I still can't believe it's already 2017. I know that I probably say this every year about the new year, but it's always the case! For me, 2016 had its ups but also its downs, so going into the new year I'm putting behind the "downs" and remembering its highlights such as fun and relaxing family vacations to Los Angeles and Jamaica, my cousin's wedding, and attending fashion weeks in both New York and Paris (so amazing...).

Another highlight, of course, was having this blog, connecting with new people and discovering new things. Thank you to all of you who take the time to stop by here or on one of my social media accounts, even if it's just for a sec to scroll through the pics! I really appreciate it! The top photo is a collage of my "best nine" photos from Instagram based on likes for 2016. For those of you who follow me there -why aren't you all? ;) - thank you!

Happy new year and have a great week!! :)
