Travel: Luggage Goals

Luggage set in orange and classic brown and white stripe

At the airport or checking into a hotel, I always find myself admiring the beautiful luggage of other travellers. And it's usually not an individual piece that catches my eye, but an attractive coordinated set. Yes, I have luggage envy. Most of my luggage pieces were last minute purchases (usually on sale) just before a trip, so the only coordination I've achieved over the years is in color (basic black to keep it easy).

Last Wednesday, I attended the press preview of Henri Bendel's Fall 2016 collection. Gorgeous, by the way. You can see some of it on my instagram (@josephinacollection) account here and here. Ok, back to this post... The event took place on an upper floor of the Henri Bendel New York flagship store on 5th avenue. As I entered the store, the luggage set (available now) shown in my photo above stopped me in my tracks. This is exactly what I want. Chic and sophisticated while still fun and versatile with different colors and patterns. Love it. And what's even better is that they have more types of pieces in different colors to select from and to coordinate into an individualized set.

With the weather warmer, all I can think about is summer vacation and where I will plan my trip (trips?). These HB Luggage pieces are certainly inspiring me to get these plans into motion! :)

Completely infatuated with this orange 'train case'. Love its vintage style updated with a more modern minimal design and color. This one's top on my wish list right now since it would be so practical to hold all of my beauty supplies and toiletries in one elegant container.

This luggage wheelie might be a necessity... not only pretty, but it has 360º wheels!

So, what about you, any fun travel plans for this summer?

Coachella Inspired...

Floral Band Set
With the start of Coachella last Friday, there was no better way to get amped up for the festival frenzy (even if you weren't going!) than an evening of festival inspired fun with B Floral and special co-host Carole Radziwill of BRAVO TV's Real Housewives of New York.  Held at Studio Arte (located in NYC's Garment District) on April 7th, the space was transformed into an oasis of floral magnificence, colorful whimsy and celebration.

Aside from the expected abundance of gorgeous floral arrangements throughout the entire room, there were some more unique displays such as a flower wall and a band set (see above) made of flowers. So amazing. Add a flower crown making station, specialty drinks, hors d'oeuvres, hair/make-up by Glam Squad, and temp tattoos by Tattly to make it a glam spring event that was certainly festival worthy!

Just lounging and getting way too comfortable in this space thinking about how I'd like to wear floral crowns more often... every day maybe? too much?

I had so much fun with my temp tattoo, because everyone thought it was real. Definitely raised a few eyebrows the next day! My choice was a rose on my upper arm (arm below is not mine), especially loved that they are scented!!

Shoe of the Day: Lace Up Sandals by Saks Fifth Avenue

Wearing Blue Lace-up Suede Sandals
must-have shoe for this Spring/Summer is a lace-up sandal. I particularly love the lace-up sandals I'm wearing in the photo above for many reasons including their stunning color, chic style, and their good quality. Another reason is that they are comfortable. And with a 4 inch heel, that's saying a lot! More importantly for you though, they are majorly discounted at Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH...right now.

Of course, the most important reason I love these sandals is because my daughter picked them out and gave (with a little help from her father...) them to me as a surprise gift during the holidays. So sweet and she knows me so well! :)

Here's another photo of the sandal. There's a convenient zipper on the heel so the laces don't have to be completely loosened and re-done when wearing them.
Also love it in black...

Another sandal I'm loving now is this one (swoon) which is on my wish list. It's not necessarily a lace-up (although it does lace at the ankle), but I had to include it because I am obsessed with it... and everything else Aquazurra

Comes in a more practical, shorter heel  as well.

NYC Places to Go: Le District

Le District signage
Since I love French food and French-inspired fare in general, I've had several people recommend a visit to "a French market" called Le District in Lower Manhattan. After having it on my "to do" list for several months, I finally made the visit and was amazed. This "market" was a 30,000 square foot French marketplace comprised of restaurants(with outdoor dining), culinary specific stations (e.g. boulangerie, charcuterie, fromagerie, etc.), a grocery, and even a florist.

Opened last Spring, Le District is located at 225 Liberty Street in Brookfield Place in the financial district area of Lower Manhattan.

So if you are a foodie, a Francophile, like to discover new places, just like to eat (ok, that's almost all of us...), or maybe you're French; head over for a fun and unique gastronomic destination in NYC.

Shopbop Friends & Family Sale: My Picks!

Shopbop is currently having it's Friends & Family Sale which ends tomorrow, April 7th at 11:59pm PT.  It's 25% off with code: INTHEFAM (see the site for exclusions/more details).  These are my top picks.  Items are going fast, so take a look before they're gone!!

Clothing: Especially love the off-the-shoulder Emerson Thorpe and Rag & Bone tops (see above) which are both perfect on-trend pieces for the spring/summer. The striped tee and jeans are closet staples. Can't go wrong with these.

Accessories: Delicate necklaces are the new 'statement' necklaces and the bicycle and star necklaces below are not just dainty, but whimsical as well. The bracelet cuff by Vita Fede is a classic must-have for a sophisticated edgy style.

I just put the 'HEELS' travel bag in my shopping cart, and will probably use it in my tote as well as when travelling. The Anya Hindmarch clutch and Rebecca Minkoff pouch are so much fun, and they are included as my faves since they are practical as well!

What to Wear to a Wedding: Halston Heritage

A couple weekends ago I attended my cousin's wedding. It was so beautiful. Held at Rose Bank Winery in PA (gorgeous sunny day, btw), the venue was rustic yet modern and minimal, an ideal setting for an elegant event. But what was even more beautiful was how genuinely happy my cousin and his now wife were to finally get married. They were in the moment, and I don't think it would have mattered to them if there were hundreds to witness their marriage or just the two of them. It was nice to experience a simply happy event.

It's been a long time since I attended a wedding and I don't often wear dresses, so there's really not a 'go-to' in my closet for these type of events. Or, at least, that's what a told myself... Anyway, it was a great excuse to find a new dress. The first few I tried were so, so wrong, but then I tried on the one shown above(taken with my phone, so sorry for the bad quality!) from Halston Heritage. Perfect fit (no alterations, yay!), amazing tailoring and fabric quality, and a reasonable(for what you're getting) price. Love! Best of all, it introduced me to the Halston Heritage collection of dresses.

Of course, I am familiar with Halston which was founded in the '60's and known for its innovative and fashion-forward looks. But somehow Halston Heritage, which launched in '09, completely went under my fashion radar. Inspired by signature Halston pieces and evoking the Studio 54 era, Halston Heritage is effortless chic, modern and glamorous. Basically, it's everything I love and a perfect resource for dress shopping!

Below are a few (I really love them all!) of my other favorites currently available from the line:

This is another image of the dress I bought:

Now, to find some more opportunities to wear these dresses!
