Bomber Jacket Love ...

I bought my first bomber jacket at an army & navy surplus store during my college days in the Boston area. At the time, it was a great addition to my wardrobe since my style had a punk rock influence. That jacket looked so amazing with my pseudo-combat boots (never could wear the real ones...too uncomfortable!). Even as my style evolved (softened as well) over the years, I still love the look of a bomber jacket. In part because it can be sporty chic as it is similar in cut to a varsity jacket, but also because it is an edgy piece to complement/contrast a more refined outfit. And in case you didn't already know, I'm a huge fan of mixing it up. Formal/casual, preppy/punk, edgy/elegant: I love it all... together! :)

Bomber style jackets are a huge trend for this season and into the Fall/Winter, so it's no surprise that there's an amazing number of these jackets available in a variety of fashion-forward designs, cuts and colors. Right now, I'm obsessed with the Saint Laurent jacket with leather trim shown at top. So sporty chic...

Below are some other bomber jacket styles (in addition to the ones already in my closet!) I'm loving now. These are in a range of price points so click through the caption detail if you need to find one that works with your budget.

And if you wanted one that was more authentic and old-school, I love the vintage one below from Asos.

So go ahead, style your jacket with any outfit, scrunch up the sleeves for added cool and wear it out before it's summer and it's too hot!

Hair and Streetstyle

NYFW Fall 16 Street Style, Moynihan Station before the show
While taking street style photos, I'm usually more focused on the outfit and how it looks on the person. But for the photos above and below that I took during New York Fashion Week this past February, I was more inspired by their hair. Of course, the outfits are great and they're all stunning women, but it is their color/highlights which defined and enhanced their overall looks. Since hair can be our best and most noticeable accessory, it is an easy way to achieve a style update, and sometimes intervention...

With all the hair color trends to try like balayage, ombre, bronde and variations of almost every technique out there, I'm so excited to get more experimental with my color and highlights. Although let's not get crazy, I'm not too adventurous, but still, there are so many options to change up your look and add some extra chic without going completely extreme.

Right now, I particularly love Aimee Song's (of Song of Style) hair color here. What about you? Have any hair color trend faves?

Chain Handle Bag Obsession

Although there may not be one "it" bag right now, chain handle bags are in the "it" category for this season and the next. Above are my current faves. Love that these are all crossbody bags which is especially important when the weather gets warmer (yay) and you want a little more freedom from all your stuff!

Obsessed with all of these bags, but the Valentino Rocklock crossbody bag (center) is top on my wish list for Spring (and my birthday!). :)

Fashion and Flowers with B Floral

Hot pink peonies in a jar
We all know that flowers are a quick and easy way to add color and accessorize a room. But have you ever tried to get more creative and use flowers and home decor to reflect the current trends in fashion?

Several weeks ago I received a gorgeous floral arrangement created by B Floral at a Henri Bendel(HB) press preview for the HB Summer’16 collection. Presented in a chic HB vase, the arrangement inventively incorporated mini pineapples (so cute!) to go along with a summer/tropical theme. (See it on my Instagram account here.) Previously unfamiliar with B Floral, I was excited to learn more about their beautiful creations and get some inspiration on new ways to integrate flowers as a design element in my home.

Since NYFW for Fall/Winter 2016 has just passed (still can’t believe it’s been two weeks!), Bronwen Smith, Owner and Lead Designer of B Floral, offered her tips on how to apply the trends from the runways to home decor. I loved all of her ideas, so of course I am sharing it with you all! See below for her wonderful graphic and tips:

5 trends from NYFW Fall 2016 for Floral decor
1. FRINGE
Fringe has been strutting down the runway for a few seasons now, and it certainly is not going away anytime soon. Use fringed elements as decor or opt for fringed tulips as an alternative to more traditional flowers. These exotic blooms provide a unique and chic touch to a table scape or bar arrangement.

2. COLOR BLOCKING
Color blocking comes and goes, but expect to see this trend everywhere. Decorate your coffee table with a colorful display to brighten the room, use multi-colored pillows on your couch and have fun using decorative trays, book ends and more on the shelves!

3. VIBRANT COLORS
Bold, daring, and bright dominated the runway, and it's a beautiful, commanding look for your apartment as well. If you decorate using whites, greys and soft blues, give it a nice pop of color with a vibrant shader like a deep purple, red or even a bold yellow -- which has been spotted all over the catwalk as well.

4. METALLICS
Metallics are great for grabbing your attention in any room. You can have blooms in a metallic vase as a subtle statement on your end table or countertop. Pair metallic vases with pale pink or yellow flowers as a soft contrast.

5. TEXTURE
Velvet, satin, fringe, and fur were used together (or alone) as statements during NYFW. These variations of fabrics and materials came together to add dimension and depth to a collection, which can certainly be applied to the world of decor. Use different elements together to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

I can't wait to try all of her suggestions! Thanks for the inspo Bronwen!!

NYFW - Georgine Fall 2016

Georgine Look2
Inspired by the idea of a modern day fairy tale, GEORGINE designer Georgine Ratelbrand sought to "re-imagine the traditional princesses, heroes and villains of the stories we have all grown up with but modernize them for the 21st Century".

For Fall 2016 the collection exuded the well-known GEORGINE woman mix of femininity and confidence, but also included more looks of sweetness, whimsy and edgy/dark elements while remaining completely wearable. The show started with ready-to-wear day looks and evolved into evening looks that were sexy, fierce and above all, glamorous. Standout details and features which were also a recurring trend across the runways for Fall included tulle trim, velvet, subtle bows and fur.

Scroll through to see my fave looks from the collection.
