Transition into Spring with Saks Off 5th!

Saks Off 5th is my go-to destination for finding designer clothes and accessories at deeply discounted prices. Since the sales and product availability vary year-round, I always check in frequently throughout the year to find those hidden gems.

With Spring just around the corner, I checked this weekend for transitional as well as seasonal pieces. Above are my top picks, although as I am writing this post many of them are selling out, at least in my size! Luckily, a convenient feature of the Off 5th site is that you can add yourself to the waiting list if it sells out.

Click on the images above to get more details or to buy. Especially love the Joie lace top, the Vince Camuto rhinestone embellished pumps, and the floral print off-the-shoulder top for being particularly stylish and on-trend!

Have a great week!

NYFW - Leanne Marshall Fall 2016

Leanne Marshall with final look of runway show
Known for her ethereal and beautifully elegant dresses, Leanne Marshall did not disappoint with her collection for Fall 2016. A gorgeous lineup, the looks were flowy, feminine, and sophisticated.

Standout features of the collection were graduated or gathered tier skirts, beaded lace detail, tulle, and plunging v-necks. Using colors from a more traditional Fall palette of black, bronze and burgundy, Leanne Marshall also included a stunning shade of autumn gold which added a bold pop of color to the collection.

Below are my fave looks from the show:

Love the gentle volume of the pin-tucked sleeves below.

NYFW - Nika Tang Fall/Winter 2016

4 looks from NYFW Presentation
Nika Tang for Fall/Winter 2016 was part edgy and completely cool-girl chic. I loved everything about this collection.

With an abstract influence from the animation film Rango and a reference to architect Luis Barragan via 'pops of unexpected rich burgundy and soft lilac', Nika Tang masterfully mixed textures and prints and incorporated plays on volume to create looks that were strong yet still feminine.

Coats and jackets were a major element of the collection, and they were amazing. The proportion was often oversized and there was detail like fur (faux, but available in rabbit or fox) or other trim which helped give it a bolder, luxe look.

Another strong feature of Nika Tang for FW16 was the use of volume in the sleeves which btw, was a major trend on the runways for Fall. Whether it was a poet sleeve or bell sleeve, the look was on-trend while staying true to the collection.

There are certain collections that make your heart skip a beat, and for me, this was one of them.

The beautiful designer, Nika Tang, who so graciously (and patiently) posed for many pictures. (Thank you, Nika!)

From the Nika Tang A/W16 Lookbook, below are my fave looks. It was really hard to pick just these since I loved every single look, but these are the ones I want need to wear, right now. Especially love the white shirt with the 'poet' sleeves and the all black outfit(middle row, right) that would be perfect for a night out...

NYFW - Tadashi Shoji Fall 2016

Runway show, black gown
The Tadashi Shoji collection for Fall 2016 was stunning as well as mesmerizing! With tattoo inspired textures and sequined geometric patterns, the looks were intricately detailed yet still understated and refined due to the cut/drape of the dresses and jumpsuits. The tribal beauty influence to the collection gave the pieces a seductive quality that conveyed a look that was natural but a little raw.

My favorite details of Tadashi Shoji Fall 2016 were the elegant illusion necklines and cut-outs, the sequined geometric motifs, and the dramatic high slit gowns.

Runway, high-low cascade gown
Runway, two dresses with sequined geometric print
Another gorgeous feature of the collection was its collaboration with Sequin Jewelry to create these arm chains (see below). Delicate and subtly edgy, the arm chains were a beautiful and elegant accessory for the gowns.

NYFW - Malan Breton F/W 2016

Malan Breton Finale Walk
Opening with a performance by award-winning singer/songwriter, Syliva Tosun, the Malan Breton show for New York Fashion Week, Fall 2016 lived up to its dramatic introduction. The theme for the collection was Gotham Disco Dollies with references to the Studio 54 era and the glam rock vibe of the '70's. Presented in the Grand Ballroom of Gotham Hall, the clothes worked well within their majestic setting.

Some standout features of the collection included the mixing of luxurious textures/details, layering, gorgeous color choices (especially, the pink men's suit shown below), and Malan Breton's expert tailoring which showed best in the suits.

Above and below are some of my photos from the show.

What's in my [Caroline De Marchi] Bag...

Black/White stripe Caroline De Marchi Bag, iphone, cosmetics, Jimmy Choos, notebook, etc.
...for fashion week.

NYFW for the Women's Fall 2016 collections officially starts on Thursday, and it's time to get serious. Aside from staying on top of my schedule and deciding on outfits (it might be too cold to dress up!), I also need to get my bag ready with all the things that will be essential throughout the day.

The Caroline De Marchi 'Cubo' Bag shown above is one of the bags I will be using. (See my post here to find out more about this amazing brand and my introduction to it during Paris Fashion Week.) Aside from this bag's gorgeous style and high quality craftsmanship, I also love the 'Cubo' because it can hold a lot. It's perfect for these fashion week essentials and anything else that I may need to hold throughout the day.

In my bag:

Not pictured are my Canon DSLR, cold weather accessories and maybe some snacks... So now you see why my bag needs to hold a lot!

Sneakers for NYFW

As much as I would love to think that I could wear 4 inch heels all day long, the reality is I can't. With New York Fashion Week coming up, I'm especially obsessed with making sure I have comfortable, as well as stylish, shoe alternatives to give my feet a break from the heels. Although there are many flats to consider, a sneaker is my go-to when working as a photographer and knowing that I'll be doing lots of walking/standing.

Love the chic metallic detail on the 'Irving' MICHAEL Michael Kors sneakers above. Most likely though, I'll be wearing the Nike ones below. Aside from its cool retro style, the all-black will be a lot easier to wear.

And of course there are the Adidas Superstar sneakers(my fave) in classic white with black stripes, a fave for many fashion editors, bloggers and street style stars. Old school and on-trend, it's no wonder that they sell out almost as fast as they come in stock!

Check back later next week for my tips on making heels more comfortable, because as much as I love these sneakers, I love my heels more!
