Holiday Outfit Inspiration - Night on the Town

Collage of faux fur jacket, lobe earrings, comme des garcons leggings, sophia webster lola pumps, slip dress, salvatore ferragamo clutch
Happy Friday, Everyone! Have any fun plans this weekend? With the holidays coming up, I've been thinking of different outfit ideas that would be great for a chic holiday event as well as an unplanned night on the town for drinks or dinner at that cool new restaurant. Essentially, the ultimate holiday look for the city girl.

Above is one urban chic look that inspires me now. Found the pieces above from Farfetch.  Have you heard of it? It's an online shopping site where fashion-forward pieces are specifically curated from over 300 diverse boutiques from around the world. Your order is sent directly from the boutique and the best part is that you may have the option to pick up/return at a participating Farfetch boutique if there is one convenient to your location.

Now back to my outfit inspiration... Love how the edgy look of the lobe earrings and varnished leggings contrast and complement a feminine and delicate slip dress and purse. Top it off with a bold, pop-of-color faux fur jacket and whimsical detail on classic Sophia Wester pumps, and you have a look that is edgy-chic, festive and versatile.

My Favorite Skinny Jeans...

Blue and Black FRAME denim skinny jeans, Garance Dore book, Frends Headset
Flares may be the new(returning) trend in denim, but not for me, at least not yet. I much prefer my skinny jeans (and boyfriend jeans, but that's another post...). Skinnies are much more flattering, you can wear them with any heel height (no more hem dragging on the ground!), they can pull off the dressed-up look a bit more effortlessly, and with improved fabric technology, they're comfortable as well!

I have tried and loved many skinny style jeans, but I recently found ones from FRAME denim which are my all time favorite. The rise is not too high or too low (regardless of how it's described on a particular site), they slenderize and lift where you need them :), and they have just the right amount of stretch where they're comfortable without sliding down, you know what I mean...

PFW Spring 2016 - Caroline De Marchi

bags from Spring 2016

Last month during Paris FashionWeek, I fell in love... with Caroline De Marchi bags. Prior to my visit, I had seen(and admired) their Ig account and website (carolinedemarchi.com), but beyond that I was not very familiar with the brand and had never seen any of their bags or accessories in person. Since I am always excited to discover amazing new products, I was thrilled to get an invitation to preview their Spring/Summer 2016 line.

Luca Bag
A new style for SS16: the 'Luca' bag*

The Caroline De Marchi showroom/boutique is located on the famously luxurious and bustling rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. I headed over there from my hotel in St. Germain des Prés, and was pleasantly surprised to face these doors, and not a traditional storefront or office building, as I stepped out of the car. Since I have only stayed in hotels and travelled as a tourist during previous visits to Paris, I've always been curious to step through any of the gorgeous doors that you see all over the city. So exciting...

Walking into the courtyard that leads to the showroom felt like gaining exclusive access into the Parisian lifestyle. It was a perfect pathway and introduction to the personality and soul of the brand.

In the showroom, I was warmly welcomed by Capucine Lebrun, Caroline's daughter as well as her Manager of Business Development and Luca Colosimo, Assistant Designer. An inviting and intimate space, it felt like a visit at a friend's place, a chic Parisian friend's place. :)

Established in 2008 with the creation of the Cubo - the signature bag style of the brand, Caroline De Marchi is a line of luxury bags handmade in Italy. Inspired by her nomadic lifestyle and her love of the world, Caroline creates a collection of gorgeous, fashion-forward bags that incorporate her French chic with exquisite Italian craftsmanship and design.

Online and through photos the bags are beautiful, but in person they exceeded my expectations. From the use of the most luxurious materials like the softest calf leather to every detail thought out and accounted for, these bags made my heart skip a beat. Caroline De Marchi bags are the epitome of sophistication and understated elegance.

Inside the showroom featuring the full SS '16 collection:

Inspired by the Siwa Oasis in Egypt, raw materials and warm, bold colors are used in every SS'16 bag. Designed by Caroline with the assistance and collaborative effort of Luca Colosimo, each bag incorporates different details and color combinations that makes every one unique and special.

I loved all the bags I saw but if I had to choose my faves, the bags below would be my top picks.

Today's Beauty Pick: Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

I bought my Shu Uemura eyelash curler many years ago after having it recommended to me by every beauty junkie I knew. At the time I rarely curled my lashes, but since it is now more a part of my regular beauty routine I tried some other brands to compare. Turns out the Shu Uemura lash curler is still my fave. It curls well, doesn't easily slip in my hand, reasonably priced, and most importantly, the curve of the hinge works best with the shape of my eye.

For Holiday 2015, Maison Kitsuné collaborated with Shu Uemura to create an exclusive makeup collection. The 24K gold plated eyelash curler shown above is a special limited edition of this holiday collection. So beautiful and luxe, I think I may need a back up curler...

Fall Back...into Coats!

Pink Jil Sander coat
Hope you all had a great Halloween! As usual, the weekend seemed to fly by, and so I was grateful for daylight savings time on Saturday night (ok, Sunday morning). I know it's just 1 extra hour, but I'll happily take it and I did... for sleep!

Turning the clocks back in the Fall is also my cue that all the coats should come out of storage for good. Well, at least for the next few months. And if you need a new one, now is the time to buy. There's no turning back, the night is longer and cold, winter weather is just around the corner (at least where I am!).

Lately I've found so many amazing coat options in a variety of styles and price points. Below are some of my faves categorized by price. Considering that coats dominate my outfit/look for most of the winter season, I think I will need to reassess my coat wardrobe... :)

1. Less than $200

From Top L to R: H&M, S13/NYC, H&M, Topshop, H&MTopshop

2. $200 - $999
From Top L to R: Canada Goose, Joseph, Mackage, A.P.C., Eliza J, SEA, Topshop(btw, this one is shearling, so at this price point...amazing!), Opening Ceremony, Sandro

3. Over $1,000
From Top L to R: Acne, Rick Owens, Goat, Blue Duck

Have a great week!
