NYFW Spring 2016 - Angel Sanchez

Angel Sanchez Spring 2016 Fuchsia Gown
Angel Sanchez for Spring 2016 took my breath away. In fact, it wasn't just me as I heard gasps from show-goers seated to the left and right of me, especially when dress after gorgeous dress came down the runway.

The collection, which debuted at Skylight Moynihan Station during NYFW, was inspired by the Cayena Flower (aka the Hibiscus). With a vivid color palette of grass green, citrus yellow, mango, orange and fuchsia; Angel Sanchez created a series of looks that stayed true to his description of the collection: "Tropical Couture". The fabrics such as gazar, jacquard and organza were luxurious, and were perfect to provide the right combination for structured yet fluid looks. Standout details of the looks were leather hand-cut flowers, and the utilization of illusion necklines or bodices which made the pieces appear to magically float or drape on the models as they walked.

Incorporating 50's couture silhouettes, Angel Sanchez created pretty and elegant looks for Spring 2016 that were blended with just the right amount of drama to make them downright stunning.

The images in this post are some of my fave looks from the show. Enjoy!

NYFW Spring 2016 - Georgine

Georgine SS16 Look14
Held at The Dock at Skylight Moynihan Station for New York Fashion Week, the GEORGINE show for Spring/Summer 2016 revealed looks that stayed true to the GEORGINE woman as we have come to know her from previous collections. She was strong, confident, and seductively feminine.

Showing an influence of design elements from both the 60's and 70's, the collection played with the notion of challenging conventional ways of dressing by using unexpected fabrics in non-traditional colors and styles. Also, details such as cut-outs (see 1st pic below) on a conservative look, and edgy elbow length [fingerless] gloves added to this element of surprise.

The images in this post are what I considered were the standout looks of GEORGINE for SS16.

My favorite look from the collection: Love the intricate embellishment, and how the femininity of the dress contrasts the bright blue gloves.

NYFW Spring 2016 - Jay Godfrey

Incorporating geometric detail and inspiration, the Jay Godfrey collection for SS16 was a showcase of dresses and separates that were refreshingly minimal in all-white, yet still sexy and sophisticated.

Presented at Pier 59 Studios during New York Fashion Week, the sleek and sometimes edgy looks were softened with figure revealing silhouettes, flounce detail and luxe fabrics.

Leanne Marshall, ivory silk gazaar gown, spring 2016
For Spring/Summer 2016Leanne Marshall created a gorgeous collection of dresses and gowns by utilizing intricate detail and draping with luxe fabrics such as silk organza, chiffon, and silk gazaar.

The flowy and feminine looks were divided into 4 stories that showed the 'journey of rebirth' to give an overall message of renewal and hope.

The image above is my fave look from the entire collection, so elegant and ethereal. See below for each story description and my fave look from each series.

Devlin Launches for Spring 2016

Last week I kicked off NYFW with a preview of Devlin, a new contemporary collection to launch for Spring 2016. On-trend quality pieces, the collection incorporates a diversity of colors, textures, prints and silhouettes to keep the looks interesting and versatile.

The line was created with millennials as the target market; however, I found many pieces that would look great on a woman of any age. For great style, it's really about finding pieces that work for your body and personal style while keeping it on-trend. The Devlin collection showed many great outfit and wardrobe options while maintaining an overall look of flirty, feminine and fashion forward.

What I especially love about this collection is the price point. In the range of $69-$128, the pieces are accessible and affordable. Perfect if you're on a budget, or just obsessed with a high-low mix (like me...).

Devlin Spring 16
It was so hot the first few days of fashion week, I wanted the collection to be available now!

Standout features of the collection were the beautiful prints and textures. See below for my fave looks from the Spring 2016 lookbook. (The 5 lookbook photos below are courtesy of Devlin.)
Obsessed with this dress. A go-to piece for a wedding, party, date-night, weekend getaway, etc. etc.

I think I'll need each one of these for my next warm weather vacay, please... :)

Sale Picks from Nordstrom and J.Crew

Hope you all had a great weekend! These are my sale picks from J.Crew and Nordstrom. Although many of the Labor Day Sales end on the 7th, there are a few like these that give you some extra days (see my post here for sale dates and applicable codes).

Love the J.Crew pieces above for their classic styles with a modern edge. The peacoat is especially fun, because it comes in 8 different colors. My fave was the color above ('deep pacific'), but the same coat in 'golden sun' and 'light flamingo' were my 2nd and 3rd choices!

The 4 pieces below from Nordstrom are great wardrobe staples that would work well from season to season.

Designer Spotlight: Georgine

As I'm organizing my schedule for NYFW for Spring/Summer '16, I can't help getting side-tracked by revisiting the Fall '15 collections for current season inspiration.

The 70's influence was a strong trend on the runways for Fall '15. GEORGINE for Fall 2015 elegantly incorporated this trend to create looks that were bold, strong and seductively feminine. With rich/vibrant colors, luxe fabrics and intricate details the GEORGINE woman was powerful and confident.

Above and below are my fave looks from the collection:

Especially love this vivid blue/green color combination:
Looking forward to attend the GEORGINE show on Sep. 13th and discover what designer, Georgine Ratelband has created for Spring 2016!
