Today's Beauty Pick - Dr. Brandt Cleansing Water Review

Until recently, my end-of-the-day facial cleansing routine was very simple. I used Arbonne’s gentle face wash cleanser as an all-in-one makeup removal/wash product, and that’s it. I loved it because it was quick and the Arbonne cleanser didn’t irritate my skin or make it feel really dried out afterwards. But to be honest I never had a feeling that I was getting all my makeup off (clogged pores and traces of eyeliner in the morning may have been a clue…), so I tried this Dr. Brandt cleansing water(c/o LuckyFabb) and the extra step seems to do the trick. It is soothing to my skin(perfect in a cold winter), and isn’t heavy or slimy the way a lot of other types of makeup removers are. The packaging says that you don’t need to wash(or rinse) your face afterwards, but I do. I’m not sure I would ever be comfortable removing makeup without washing afterwards, but I guess it’s nice to know you have the option. As I am now on my second bottle, facial cleansing water is now officially part of my daily routine and I love it.

Love That Look

So chic. Love how the bold, blue color of her dress is complemented by a simple style and minimal accessories. The boots and bag are understated, yet are standout, stylish pieces. Love it.

On another note, hope you're enjoying the weekend! It snowed here(New York) overnight, so below are some things I'll be (and have been) doing with the extra indoor time.

Do you follow the lifestyle blog MessyNessyChic or have you heard of it? It's my new internet obsession. So interesting! A diverse and eclectic mix of off-beat, unusual and chic stories, photos and finds written by Vanessa(aka Nessy), a London girl living in Paris.

I'll be finishing this book which I so far find inspiring and eye-opening to the less glamorous side of the fashion industry. Definitely adds another perspective to my appreciation for Jimmy Choo shoes. Oh and btw in case you don't already have them, Jimmy Choo shoes are the most comfortable (along with Valentino) heels out there! I'm just saying...

This lip scrub by TonyMoly is amazing. For me, a weekly necessity during a cold, dry winter.

A mask newbie, I'll be trying this one for the first time. Supposed to be great, so fingers crossed!

And, getting caught up (ok, just trying) on the less glamorous side of my life: bills, paperwork and cleaning... ;)  So, what are your plans?

Vacation Ready

Whether you’ve already planned your warm weather vacation, dreaming of one or simply impatient for summer to be here, it never hurts to be prepared. Above are 4 of my warm weather vacation essentials that will go with me on my next trip. I love the swimsuit (courtesy of Zinkē), because of its classic style and the quality of its fabric. Also, you can mix and match it with other pieces in the collection to add color and, at the least, increase the life of your suit for future trips. Gold hoops are a must on the beach or by the pool, don’t you think? These (similar here) are great, because their design is more modern and elegant than traditional circular hoops. Of course, sunglasses are necessary for a sunny (hopefully!) trip. Love these, because they are lightweight, comfortable and, let’s be real, love how they look. Last but not least, this self tanner/sunblock (gifted from LuckyFabb) is amazing and much needed when your body has not seen sun in months (that's me...). If you need to put sunblock on anyway, this is a really easy way to get a little color in a natural, gradual way.

Below are some of my other vacation packing faves:

In love with these summer shoes. Can you tell? The white slides are so chic, and the 'Ancient Greek' rubber sandals...

Black + Gold Shoes

A stunning color combination, I love to see a black and gold mix the most in two categories: interior design and shoes.

Above are some black and gold shoes I'm loving now. The look is glam, sexy, edgy and bold. The perfect accessory for cocktails and a night on the town. And if they make you feel confident, the right accessory for any event!

Pre-Fall 2015: More Fave Looks

Marissa Webb

Many of the collections for Pre-Fall 2015 showed looks that were a mix of femininity with bold and/or casual detail. In addition to my fave Rochas looks in my post here, these are my top looks from my fave designers for Pre-Fall 2015.

No. 21
Rebecca Taylor

My favorite: boho meets glam meets retro!

Voilà.  If this is any indication for Fall 2015...can't wait!

Today's Beauty Pick - Korean Beauty Products

If you were intrigued about the hype surrounding Korean beauty products but haven’t tried any yet, now is a great time. It’s winter, it’s cold and a bit dreary, and so of course, the perfect time to experiment and pamper yourself while spending all that extra time indoors. A few months ago, I saw a post on rolala loves, a blog I follow, about the opening of TONYMOLY (a Korean beauty brand) in Manhattan. Excited to try and see some of these products in person, I headed over to their location on 32nd Street in Korea Town. Three shopping bags later (they were small I promise!) I was in beauty sampling bliss. With price points relatively low (just a few dollars for an eye patch or a mask, for example), the products are fun and target almost every beauty solution possible. And the best part is that they gave me a free sample to try an eye cream with snail mucin. Have you heard of this? I have to admit it’s sounds gross, but is supposed to be amazing. I have yet to try it, but will definitely let you know my thoughts when I do!

The store itself is teeny tiny, but packed with the most adorably packaged products. In fact, so cute that it looks like it is intended for the teen market. Maybe it is. But if it works for you, use it.

If you're able to make a trip to k-town in Manhattan, you can also visit The Face Shop (also located in Chinatown) which is another Korean beauty brand store located across the street and down the block from TONYMOLY. Not in the NYC area?  Urban Outfitters is an easy way to find TONYMOLY in a US online shop.

Pre-Fall 2015: Rochas

I'm so inspired by the Rochas Pre-Fall 2015 collection designed by Alessandro Dell'Aqua. Fanciful and grand, the collection gorgeously portrays a look that is a blend of ladylike innocence with bold and glamorous: a combination I love to achieve with some of my own looks (except, maybe not the chunky heel...) and love to admire on others. Looking forward to see their full collection for Fall 2015!

Above and below are my fave looks from the collection:

Happy 2015!

Ok, so I know the New Year officially started 5 days ago, but in my mind it doesn’t really start until today. The Monday after the holiday when everyone returns to work/school and gets down to business with their normal routine in addition to some extra (and often much needed) hope-filled goals. With this in mind, Happy New Year!

One of the things I look forward to at the start of every new year is to buy a new planner. I’m old school when it comes to my calendar, and I like to see it all written and mapped out on paper where I can scribble notes, etc. There’s something about a blank planner that gives me hope, the feeling of a fresh start. With every list, event and note that I add to the planner, I feel like I’m given another opportunity to write the story of my life, for this year at least… Above is my planner purchase (from Paper Source) for this year as well as 2 new accessories (mirrored Ray-Bans and ear cuff) I’m obsessed with right now. Can you see the shiny gold trend? Perhaps to channel a sparkly, magical new year? I wish!

Happy Monday!
