Paris Fashion Week- Street Views & 5 Things I Learned

Building in Paris

As referenced in previous posts, I went to Paris earlier in the month. Although I’ve been there several times before, it was my first time to visit for Paris Fashion Week and it was amazing…

Aside from picture perfect sunny weather (I think I got a little lucky!) and ideal moderate temps, there was a palpable energy and excitement to the city that I had not felt during my previous trips. I guess it could have been just in my head from my own enthusiasm… except it wasn’t! Even non-fashion industry Parisians I met, especially the Uber drivers, during my stay seemed to be intrigued and maybe even a little obsessed with the week’s events.

I was only in town for a couple of days, 2.5 actually, so I tried to make the most of it by going on walks between shows/events, sneaking in some shopping whenever possible, and even practicing my french. 🙂

Below are a few of my photos I took while on my walks… And keep on reading (that’s right, scroll down) to find out some things I learned/observed during my visit that don’t necessarily have to do with fashion week. Also, see my next post for some Paris Fashion Week street style photos!

My happy place, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, which also happens to be across the street from my hotel. Coincidence? I’d be lying if I said it was.

Some things I learned and loved:
1) October (and Fashion Week) is my favorite time to visit Paris. Big surprise, right?!
2) Many Parisians are not as fluent in English as I thought. (They just have a better accent and are more believable. :)) This is a good thing, since it enables me to be less self-conscious when practicing my french language skills. At least that’s what I tell myself…
3) The French love NYC. In particular, they are obsessed with Brooklyn. I mean obsessed.
4) With Uber in Paris, I can now go out in Paris with high heels. In fact, Uber is an amazing service in Paris. Every driver I met was extremely professional and polite, there was always a car available within 5 mins, and the cars were newer/cleaner/nicer overall than the cars I have taken in nyc. I’m just saying…
5) The Saint Germain des Prés neighborhood in Paris is still my fave. Go there.
I know this is not a street view, but I had to include this pic. This was my breakfast every morning while there. Yum.
