Home Design Style Inspiration With Modani Furniture

As much as I love going out and attending events, I also love being at home. It's where I regain my center and truly relax/re-charge...my home base. You know that quote by Oprah, "Your home should rise up and greet you when you walk through the door."? Well, I truly believe this. So now I have to be honest. I moved into my house around 5 years ago and never finished designing it. This kills me. Sure, it's furnished and painted with my preferred design style, but it's not complete. Not pulled-together the way a great outfit would be. Yes, it does greet me when I walk through the door. But does it stand up to say hello? Maybe it's more like a sit-up... So when I was recently introduced to Modani modern furniture, I was inspired and determined to get back on track on my home-design project!
Ultra modern and sophisticated pieces, Modani modern furniture is exactly the style of furniture I love. And at more affordable price points relative to similar modern furniture stores, it's a perfect resource for staying within a budget, completing a look (just like with an outfit), or frequently changing up your design.

Modani's Savina Lounge Chair shown above is my inspiration for my living room. Sleek and a bit edgy, obsessed with this chair as a minimal yet statement-worthy piece. Add in a touch of whimsy with velvet throw pillows like the bold and graphic ones below (the crystal lettering!)...

...and the rest of the room is easily balanced with other minimal yet luxe pieces.

Some fave accessories to finish off the room:
-Barcelo Lamp: bold yet subtle
-Pink Peonies: pop of color
-Silver Stool: elegant and luxe
-Caravaggio Oversized Mirror: understated ornate detail
-Lapisan Vase: statement piece
-Mateo Pewter Rug: for texture and warmth

Although I haven't yet visited a brick-and-mortar Modani location, I plan on doing so soon to see (and feel) the products in person. (I'll be sure to give an update!) See here for their U.S. locations and a virtual tour of their stores. And if you go, let me know what you think!

#OOTD - Pastel Coat Trend For Fall

Pastel shades are a major trend this fall and winter season. In particular, I love pastel colored coats to brighten my mood and outlook when the daylight hours are shorter and the weather becomes a bit more dreary. And since your coat dominates your look when it's just too cold to go without, a candy-coated and unexpected light color not only completes your outfit, it makes your outfit. So "Yay!" to lighter colors for fall and winter!!

Today's Beauty Pick - Topshop Lips in Tease

Topshop is one of my fave go-to clothing retailers for great on-trend/fashion-forward pieces at much lower price points than the designer brands. Perfect when your style philosophy (like mine) is all about mixing high and low. But for beauty... I didn't even know they sold beauty products until recently.  This past September, I met some Topshop brand ambassadors at a party during NYFW and they gifted me the lipstick (Lips in Tease) shown above. Skeptical that I could even wear a bright, 'Barbie' lip color, I tried it anyway and I love it! The color isn't as saturated as I was afraid it would be, and it applies smoothly yet has a matte finish. Since I normally wear neutral or sheer (ok, boring) lip colors, I have to say I'm a little excited to add a fresh and new color to my make-up options! (See me wearing it here on Instagram.)

Happy Monday!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As many of you already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Accessory Concierge, an online store of trendy accessories at lower price points, has a new line of accessories to show its support and help raise awareness for breast cancer.  Twenty percent of all proceeds from the sales of its "Fight Like a Girl" cuff, "Here Comes a Fighter" cuff  and the "Tough As Nails" necklace will be donated to BreastCancerFund.org.  "The Breast Cancer Fund works to prevent breast cancer by eliminating our exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation linked to the disease."

Regardless of how you show support, raise awareness or donate to the cause, every little bit helps. So join the fight for this very important cause!

Inspiration for Holiday: Venexiana - New York Fashion Week SS'15

With the perfect moderate-to-crisp temperatures stereotypical of Fall in New York and full-swing into October, my thoughts are on the holidays. I know I may be jumping the gun since we haven't even had Halloween yet, but this is when I start to get excited for all the extra social events and parties that typically occur from November until New Year's. And with the parties, come the clothes. What to wear... Last month during NYFW, I attended Venexiana's Spring/Summer '15 fashion show. It was a stunning collection of 'make-an-entrance' gowns that inspired me to get really dressed up (at least once) for the holidays.

The designer, Kati Stern, is known for her use of gorgeous fabrics, expert tailoring, and rock-and-roll edgy style. And this collection did not disappoint! With fabrics such as matte jersey, silk taffeta and chiffon; sequins and Preciosa crystals(most often on a collar or strap) decorated and accessorized the dresses without being over the top. Each look came down the runway with a fluidity on the models that is a testament to the exquisite tailoring and impressive drape of the fabrics. The colors of the dresses included black and softer 'spring' shades such as aqua, pink, soft yellow and coral. One of my favorite features of the collection was the metallic trend which showed up in the looks as metallic thread, lamé or sequins.

The photo at top and the ones below are my favorite looks from the show. Hopefully, you'll be inspired too!

Obsession of the Week... & Promo Codes

These boots. Obsessed with these boots by shoe designer Paul Andrew. A beautiful blend of at least two hot trends for Fall 2014, fringe and a tall boot, these boots are chic and fun. Unfortunately, they would single-handedly blow my shoe budget for the season...but I still love them whether they make it into my closet or not!

Speaking of a budget, there are so many sales going on right now to make it easier to stay on budget (if you were going to go shopping anyway...). And if you wanted to get started on next season or resort/holiday, now is a good time to start looking.

Love that Look

The way to wear a blazer: jacket with a great cut and the sleeves pulled up. (In fact, the only way I like to wear them.) Love her look. So chic.

SHOPBOP - Up to 70% off, see what's on my list...

Launched way back in 2000, SHOPBOP is an online clothing/accessories boutique of chic and fashion-forward pieces. A wide range of selections, it is my go-to when shopping for something unique or hard to find. Sorting features such as Editors Picks and Fashion Finds make SHOPBOP a great resource also when I am looking for different outfit options and need some inspiration.

Right now, they're having a major sale, with up to 70% off select items. Below are my personal top 9 faves from the sale. But really there were so many other items I loved and some of them sold out as I was searching. So if you need to freshen up your closet or want a great deal, this one's worth a look before it's gone!
