More of my Street Style photos from New York Fashion Week SS15

street style, NYFW, SS15
Earlier in the month I posted some street style photos I took during NYFW for the Spring/Summer 2015 Collections (see here). This is Part II of my street style photos for that week. Still can't believe NYFW SS15 is over and really wish I was in Paris right now for the Paris shows... On the upside, I'll be catching up with the shows online and on WWD! What about you?

LIE SANGBONG - New York Fashion Week SS'15

Entitled Dream Road, the LIE SANGBONG collection for Spring/Summer 2015 was ethereal, beautiful and optimistic. The designer Mr. Lie, deeply affected by a maritime disaster in his native South Korea earlier in the year, wanted to create a collection "to share the positivity that is brought on by the beginning of spring and the promise of a new day". And that he did.

With a prominent use of butterfly, floral and cloud motifs, the colors in the collection were mostly white, turquoise, cobalt and purple. Luxurious fabrics such as silk jacquard, silk chiffon and fine cotton were used to create pieces that incorporated Mr. Lie's signature architectual silhouettes and precise tailoring, for which he is known. The result was expertly constructed looks that were detailed, yet fluid and light.

My favorite looks from the collection:
This dress...gorgeous...

An incredible feature of the runway show for LIE SANGBONG was the actual runway. Created in collaboration with Jang Seung Hyo, a Korean sculptor and installation artist, the runway was made of 1,188 glass tiles. In a dreamy sky blue shade, the tile runway included a border of collage-to-photo prints that included iconic prints from the LIE SANGBONG archive as well as the motifs debuted this season. Amazing. And a perfect way to highlight the collection's theme!

In conclusion, a stunning collection and a welcome extra dose of optimism for SS'15!

Lucky Magazine X Movado (BOLD) Event

close-up of Movado BOLD watch and September 2014 issue of Lucky Magazine

Last week during New York Fashion Week, I attended a party given by Lucky Magazine and Movado to accessorize my favorite Fall look. The event, featuring the Movado BOLD collection of watches, offered invitees to select a watch (too hard to choose just one!), and then style it with baubles from a bracelet bar curated by Lucky Accessories Editor, Melissa Lum.

I was immediately attracted to this Movado Bold in navy. A unique color for a watch, I also love that it is a great alternative to black. And since I wear blue denim more often than not, this watch would look great with almost all my looks!

Of course, the other reason I chose this watch was that I love how it worked with my outfit that evening...

outfit details:
jacket- Maje (white, cropped)
top- Alexander Wang (white tank, similar here)
jeans- AG Jeans ('The Stilt')
clutch- Maje (metallic blue leopard print)
shoes- Jimmy Choo (silver pumps, not shown)

Aside from the exciting opportunity to select a Movado BOLD watch of your choice and accessorize it with some arm candy, there were many other highlights to the event such as signature cocktails, delicious bites (still thinking about those yummy fries!), a candy bar, manicure station, and hanging with fellow bloggers. Held in the chic atmosphere of Bar Naná on Gansevoort (Meatpacking District) in New York City, it was so much fun and one of my favorite events during NYFW!

Some photos taken with my iphone:

So thank you Movado and Lucky Magazine for the gorgeous watch (which I'm wearing all the time now, btw), the bracelets, and a great evening out!

Nicholas K - New York Fashion Week SS'15

The Nicholas K fashion show was the first on my schedule for the Spring/Summer '15 collections of New York Fashion Week, and it was powerful. Inspired by a trip to Morocco and Isabelle Eberhardt (a Swiss explorer who traveled the region in the late 1800's), sibling design duo Nicholas and Christopher Kunz used safari, military, and goddess warrior influences/details to create a collection that was urban chic, edgy, and represented a strong woman.

The fabrics were mostly fluid, lightweight and layered which gave a feminine/soft yet protective appearance. The dominant colors were olive, black and khaki with some standout looks in white and charcoal. There was a definite utilitarian style to the looks which contrasted well with the lace-up heels. A collaboration between shoe designer Kiyoon Baek and Nicholas K, the shoes brilliantly added sexiness and femininity to some of the harder, more edgy looks.

The photo above and the ones below are my favorite of the collection...
Love the drape and fluidity of this all-white outfit (above), and how it is minimal yet so sophisticated.

Horsehair accessories by jewelry designer Victoria Simes added an element that was raw and fierce. Loved it!

It was a great start to #NYFW!

Skagen: New Store in NYC!

Last week I attended a press breakfast to celebrate the opening of Skagen's first New York flagship store. Recently introduced to their new collection of bags (see my post here), I looked forward to view their different product offerings in person. I was also particularly interested to see how the physical store would interpret the specific functional meets minimal with style aesthetic (read about the brand here) of Skagen, "a lifestyle brand inspired by the contemporary Danish design movement".

Located at 1585 Broadway, Skagen's new store is a refreshingly serene and stylistically simple oasis in the crazy bustle of Times Square. With the use of natural grey wood, warm earthy colors, and lots of detail with different textures and surfaces, the store is warm and inviting.

Watches and jewelry, and leather accessories and bags for both men and women are the main product lines featured in the store as well as a specially curated collection of unique products sourced from around the world. I was happy to find that the products look even better in person, with Skagen's reputation of high-quality clearly evident. Also, some of the bags which I had only previously seen online had design elements (like a hidden zipper or alternate function) which I discovered only after picking them up... well thought-out details which demonstrated the sophistication of the design.

If you're in the New York area or are planning a trip, I recommend a visit to this gorgeous store!

In My Fave Bag... for New York Fashion Week

Some of my best and most favorite purchases are the ones that are not planned. Earlier this summer while admiring some Balenciaga leather cuffs at Le Bon Marché (an amazing shopping center in Paris), I spotted this gorgeous brown bag and it was love at first sight. Lightweight and made with a luxuriously soft leather, I especially loved its rich brown shade with a touch of burgundy. Perfect as we head into Fall.

Now, in the midst of NYFW, I'm especially appreciating this Balenciaga Velo bag even more. Large enough to fit everything I need, it's not bulky. With it's longer strap, this bag can be worn messenger style to be truly hands free when taking photos and rushing around between the different show venues.

In my bag:
Yosi Samra flats (love these because they fold up, have a t-strap to stay on my too-thin heel, and have so much style!), phone, business cards/card pouch, Poppin pen, sunnies, Moleskine notebook, compact umbrella, Laura Mercier translucent powder, Comme des Garcons wallet (similar here and here), Topshop cosmetic bag (similar here), MAC 'magenta' lip pencil, Jouer 'nude' gloss, MAC 'love nectar' gloss, Smashbox high shine gloss, Kiehl's lip balm, and, of course, my Canon DSLR which I'm using to take this pic!

Outfit details:
top- Elizabeth and James
jean- AG
shoes- Joie (similar here)
bracelet- Wanderlust
watch- Movado Bold

Close-up image of the Movado Bold watch worn in the post. Beautifully sleek in rose gold and white, this watch is an elegant statement piece!
