Although I don't often experiment with different lip colors, lipsticks are a quick and inexpensive way to lift your mood as well as your look which is something I need in this seemingly never-to-end cold (in NY) winter season. So polar vortex schmortex, I just tried 'Up the Amp' by M.A.C. and love it. It's pinkish/purple without being too purple and ultra-creamy. :)

Fell in love with Isabel Marant's "The Dicker" ankle boot(above) the first time I saw them many seasons ago. Wear them with shorts, a skirt, boyfriend jeans, etc. and create a look that is effortlessly chic. A classic and they're Isabel Marant. So, of course I obsessed about them until I tried them on...uncomfortable! (To be honest, I was a little relieved since they're a bit pricey for a casual shoe... )
Since then I've been trying to find another ankle boot that is similar in style, but will also get me through a full day of walking around the city, etc. After over a year of looking, trying on, and buying boots that I convinced myself would work but really didn't, I found the ankle boots below. Yeah!
Both by Paul Green, I just bought the ones on the left and love them! Aside from comfort, I love the casual, weathered look of the suede and the subtle metallic texture on the heel (not visible in this image). With Spring around the corner (hopefully!) I think I'll have to add the "Taggart" boot on the right to my wish list...

With the snowstorms and below freezing temperatures the past week(s), I'm finding myself completely addicted to Kiehl's lip balm and hand lotion. First, I'll start with the lip balm. I've been using it for the past 10 years, and it is amazing. I was always that kid with the dry, chapped lips (pretty, right?), but this lip balm has changed that. Unfortunately, I didn't discover it until I was an adult, but I digress... So anyway, it is easily absorbed, instantly moisturizing, and isn't addictive the way some other lip balms are. I do not, however, recommend the Kiehl's lip balm that comes in a tube. Supposed to be the same, but it's not. The Kiehl's hand lotion is equally amazing. Instantly moisturizes without being too greasy or too thick. With the cold weather and dry, indoor heat, these 2 items are always with me in my make-up bag.
Some other beauty products that I love and absolutely recommend regardless of the temperature or your environment:
- Nars Greek Holiday Lip Gloss - a neutral, subtle gloss that is flattering as well as moisturizing
- La Mer the eye balm intense - a.m.a.z.i.n.g. If you have bags or puffiness around your eyes, this helps, and under make-up it's my favorite because it really absorbs well into the skin. A little pricey, but you only need a little bit and it's totally worth it!
- benefit They're Real! Mascara - A great overall lash enhancing, non-smudging mascara. See my previous post about it here.
- Eyeko Lash Curler - The first step to opening up the eye...
- Bobbi Brown Bronzer(Medium) - Love this shade and who wouldn't benefit from a little healthy glow? See my previous post about it here.
- Jane Iredale Make-up Remover Swabs - Great to fix mistakes, and for touch-ups throughout the day or night.

Love the Givenchy Antigona bag for its more modern, structured take on a traditional duffle bag; its versatile size; and the dual handle/shoulder strap option. In gray, it is sleek, sophisticated, and perfect for almost any outfit/situation. Timeless. Chic. Practical.

It's not often that I love and really want to wear every single piece of a collection, but this is the case for the Pre-Fall 2014 collection of N°21. The label, founded in 2010 by designer Alessandro Dell'Aqua after he left his namesake line, is known for fabulously mixing styles, textures, and details to create a look that is feminine yet laid back and cool. For example, Alessandro Dell'Aqua will often show looks with masculine tailoring and lingerie detail, or heavy embellishment on a more casual silhouette or style.
Below are 6 of my most favorite of the N°21 Pre-Fall collection for 2014:
Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

The baggy leather trouser. Didn't realize how much I loved this pant style until I saw these images of Caroline de Maigret(left) and Tina Leung, two très chic and fashion-forward women. Love how the leather makes their looks edgy and sophisticated, and contrasts to the baggy style which keeps the looks casual and effortless. These pants, worn with confidence and great posture, can be a wardrobe classic.

Maybe it's a little holiday season withdrawal mixed with a general fondness of sparkle and shine. Whatever the reason, I'm ecstatic about the Metallics for Day trend that showed up on many designers' runways for the Spring 2014 season. Of course, I've always been a fan of and worn metallics on occasion during the day myself, but I'm particularly looking forward to the availability of more versatile metallic clothing/accessory options.
One of my favorite metallic looks for daytime is wearing a metallic pencil skirt with a boyfriend cut oxford shirt (also on-trend for Spring 2014). The conservative silhouette of the pencil skirt tones down a bold, flashy metallic look and pairs well with a preppy style, casual top. Roll up the sleeves, keep the collar unbuttoned and you have a look that is both chic and effortless.
Add elegant pumps like the Gianvito Rossi's or the sweetly feminine Jimmy Choos shown below, and the look is complete!

Fur (faux or real), a popular trend both on and off the runways for this season, was especially remarkable when presented as a statement making mix of bold colors and/or patterns. For a more subtle demonstration of the trend, I love this (see above) fluffy fur accessory from Thursday Friday. Adds a little whimsy to a more serious and structured bag like my Céline Mini Luggage.

When it's very cold as it currently is in New York, my cold weather accessories become my security blanket...can't leave home without them. Above are my 3 accessories that I'm especially attached to right now. The boot, because it's waterproof and has a heel (in my mind, very important). The glove, because it's super warm and lets my fingers free. And my favorite of all is the snood or, more specifically, headband/collar. Whatever it's called, it is amazing. Keeps my neck warm without excess fabric, looks chic, doesn't move around or fall off the way a scarf might, and there's no tying or wrapping required. Love it.

|Intersection of Prince and Mott Streets in Nolita, one of my favorite neighborhoods of NYC.|
Instead of my usual list of specific things that I want to accomplish and complete in the New Year (for example, exercising 3x per week, cleaning my closet, learning a language, etc.), this year my resolutions are more focused on my personal and spiritual growth.
Thoughts that inspire me and principles to live by for 2014 and on...
1. Live in the moment.
2. Do what you love. Life is too precious and short.
3. Surround yourself with people who support you and add value to your life.
4. Walk away from negativity. Your life will be better for it.
5. Take a moment(s) every day to be thankful and show gratitude.
6. Believe in yourself or no one else will.
7. Be the person you want to be. That starts today!
Of course, I still intend to try to exercise more, etc. etc. :)
Thank you for visiting my blog. Hope your New Year is off to a great start, and if not, there's always tomorrow. Happy New Year!!
