Obsessed with these Brianna Lace Up Booties by Schutz. Love how their gladiator style, edgy look is made more feminine with a stiletto heel. Hmmm, these would be perfect with my cuffed boyfriend jeans or a pencil skirt!
With New York Fashion Week starting next Thursday on September 5th, I am equal parts ecstatic and overwhelmed. For me, fashion week is like fashion heaven. A time when you not only have the opportunity to preview the collections for the upcoming season, but to also see (and maybe even meet) some of the amazing people who make it all happen. It's also a time when I feel particularly justified to indulge in my fashion obsession. You got it, I'll be eating, sleeping, breathing it.
So now I need to make some outfit decisions to get me through the week! The outfit above is my inspiration for a fail-safe outfit. Equally chic, effortless, and comfortable; this is the type of look I will go to on the days when I can't decide what to wear(most days) or know that I'll need something to get me through a long day.
I've always thought of ear cuffs as strictly a statement accessory of the young (as in teenage) and/or rebellious, two categories in which I don't quite belong now... But after seeing them on the runways of fashion designers such as Rodarte in Spring '14 and Thakoon in Fall '13, and on some very chic ears of the fashion cognoscenti; I find myself having a change of heart. Ear cuffs now have become fashion forward and a bit mainstream (in the good way, of course).
So if you asked me if I'd love it or leave it, I think I'd have to say that I'm starting to love it! (Really, it's just another excuse to accessorize my look with a beautiful or interesting piece of jewelry.)
It's usually at this point in the summer that I start to obsess about Fall fashion. Although the more casual and less layered looks for summer(or warm weather) can be refreshing and easy, I just can't wait to dress up a bit more, add some layers, and have a little more fun with my looks without feeling like I'm melting.
So...fast forward to Fall fashion.
Proenza Schouler's collection for Fall 2013 is one of my favorites of the season. Always known for their sophistication and intensely creative development of unique fabrics, Proenza Schouler put together a collection this season that was even more sophisticated, if that's possible, than in previous seasons. With a color palette that was predominantly black, white, and gray; the looks were understated yet strong. Overall, the collection was more feminine than usual with many pieces clearly reminiscent of mid-century silhouettes such as cropped jackets with rounded shoulders and figure-defining pencil skirts. But what was particularly remarkable about the collection was the unexpected detail and texture of the fabrics. For example, there was a dress of vertical chain embroidery and tweed bouclés created from black and white strips of woven leather.
Above are some of my favorite looks from Proenza Schouler's Fall '13 collection. Especially love the leather sweater and ostrich skirt in the last look on bottom right for its whimsy and how it complemented some of the more serious looks of the Proenza Schouler woman.
As a continuation to yesterday's post, just had to show you this white blazer from Mango on sale now. Have tried it on, and love it! It has a classic/sophisticated cut, it's double breasted style is totally on-trend right now, and at it's price, definitely worth the try. Fabulous.
Also, love this jacket by Ted Baker London if you're looking for a blazer with a more formal/tuxedo look.
A white blazer with a clean, classic cut is a wardrobe staple that keeps on giving. As a neutral color, it goes with anything and everything, and the tailoring helps refine a more casual or slouchy look.
Went out for a nice family dinner last week, and just could not decide what to wear. Threw this Theory white blazer on top of my white tee and jeans, added accessories, and I was done!
