Summer Essentials: Part 2 - Accessories

Continued from yesterday's post, see below for my Summer Essentials accessory picks.

Hats:
sun protection with style...

Not only does a visor protect your face from the sun, but it also is less likely to give you hat head due to its open design.  Important!  Fortunately, it also earned some cool points as an accessory in some major runway shows (Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen...) a couple of seasons ago.  Love it.  Chic and practical!

Bags:
classic and practical...
Love this bag for when you don't have a lot to carry and want to be mobile locally or on vacation.  As a blogger, having a bag that is small yet can hold my camera is key!
This bag is a classic and has an added feature of being reversible!

Sunglasses:
a dose of cool that also keeps you from squinting...
Prada, Ray-Ban

Jewelry:
lightweight, delicate, and on-trend...

Shoes:
a sandal, and a practical yet chic flat to carry in your bag...
I'm obsessed with the minimal look of this Givenchy ankle strap sandal, and I'm equally obsessed with these YS flats that can fold up to easily fit in a purse, etc.  But what I love most about these shoes is that  they both have a padded insole which is imperative for the extra walking you're more likely to do in the summer.

Voilà

Summer Essentials: Part 1 - Clothing

In every season, there are some wardrobe basics that can make getting dressed faster and easier, especially on those days when you just don't have the time.  The right wardrobe basics not only have great style and a flattering fit, but are in a neutral color to work effortlessly with the rest of your wardrobe and accessories.  Now that it's officially summer, see below for my Summer Essentials wardrobe picks.

Dresses:
looks great belted or accessorized, dressed up or dressed down...

Love the dress in the summer for the simplicity of throwing on one piece of clothing.

Tanks:
great worn alone, layered or under a lightweight jacket...
L to R: T by Alexander Wang (classic tank), T by Alexander Wang (muscle jersey), Vince (drape hem)

Obsessed with these tanks.  Love them, because they are not clingy and do not ride up (my pet peeve with tanks!).

Jackets:
moto-inspired or a classic blazer...
L to R: Mango, Karl Lagerfeld, Zara

Jeans:
a flattering fit does it all...
L to R: Hudson Jeans, Citizens of Humanity

Check back tomorrow for 'Part 2 - Accessories'!

Isabel Marant Étoile for...a ball game?!

If you were considering a trip to NYC and shopping was high on your "things to do" list, then I highly suggest you visit in late May through June.  Not only are there major sales going on during this time, but there are also sample sales which, to a fashion obsessed shopper, can be a combination of hitting the jackpot and finding your mother ship!  Well...that's what it does for me.

So anyway, after visiting the Alice & Olivia sample sale last week in SoHo, I took a quick peak into Isabel Marant and found this linen tee (in several other colors as well) from her Étoile collection marked 50% off!  Étoile is a more casual, bohemian (in other words, affordable) line of the Isabel Marant brand.  Love this tee, because I can dress it up under a blazer with skinnies and stilettos or wear it casually to a ball game, of all places, and still feel chic.  Effortlessly chic!

Went to see the Yankees play the LA Dodgers on Wednesday.  On a night as beautiful as it was that evening, it almost didn't matter who they played or how they played.  The stadium was picture perfect!  For the icing on the cake...got a game ball!!

Happy Friday!

OOTD - Summer Style: Sandro 'Floral' Top and Citizens of Humanity 'White' Denim

From a fashion perspective, I have a hard time with summer/warm weather dressing. By the time the warmer temps arrive, my mind has already moved on with anticipation to all the great looks and trends coming up in the Fall.

There are some beautiful and warm days, however, where I'm absolutely inspired to embrace the season and put on some lighter weight, warm weather clothing.
Love the Sandro tropical print top shown in these pics, because the print is subtle and it's a way to incorporate the floral print trend without being "flowery".  As denim (love its versatility and durability) is a staple item in my every-day wardrobe, white cropped or cuffed denim pants in a looser fit is a necessity on the hotter days when shorts are not appropriate and/or a skirt is not practical.

Outfit details:
top- Sandro (similar here)
pants- Citizens of Humanity
bag- Proenza Schouler
shoes- Jimmy Choo
bracelet- BCBG (similar wrap style here), Julie Vos
sunglasses- Ray-Ban

Hope you're having a great start to your week!

In my [PS13] bag...

Front view of my blue PS13 bag
So today I'm showing you the contents of my bag.  My everyday bag.  Earth-shattering?  No.  Fascinating?  Probably not, unless you're incredibly nosy like I am.  The reason is simple.  I'm hoping it will prompt you to do the same (remember, I'm nosy).  So tweet meinstagram me, etc. etc.  I'd love to see your essentials that get you through your day!
My blue proenza schouler with its contents in front of it
Proenza Schouler PS13 Bag, LV wallet, iphone, Ray-Ban square aviators, notebook, pen

SOHO cosmetic bag: Kiehl's lip balm (only the tub for me which is far better than what comes in the tube), Laura Mercier translucent pressed powder, oil-blotting papers, Nars lipgloss(Greek Holiday), Trish McEvoy lipliner (iced nude), tissues

Happy Wednesday!

OOTD - J Brand Slit Hem Jeans & My Fave Sandro Jacket!

Wearing Sandro jacket with JBrand jeans and Jimmy Choos
Love slit hem pants for the way they can elongate the legs and highlight the shoes (as a shoe lover, this is especially important!).  Also love this particular Sandro jacket (Vernis) for warmer weather, because it has a moto jacket style combined with lighter weight fabrics (mostly linen) and colors more suitable for warmer temps.  What you may love about these 2 wardrobe pieces is that they are now on sale!
Outfit details:
Jacket: Sandro (on sale!)
Pants: J Brand (on sale!)
Bag: Elliott Lucca (from many, many years ago)
Necklace: Maya Brenner
Earrings: thanks to Tacori
Bracelet: thanks to MissMe

Close-up of the Tacori earrings...

Obsessed with these metallic Jimmy Choos, especially with these pants...

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Altuzarra Resort 2014...A collection to look forward to!

More romantic and sensual than is typical for an Altuzarra collection, Resort 2014 for Joseph Altuzarra  was all about the woman who embodies effortless chic and casual sophistication.  The looks were reminiscent of the 70's in Paris with folksy motifs like Romanian embroidery prints and lingerie detail.  Lace insets were beautifully added to some pieces such as a tuxedo or blouse to create a look that is more delicate and feminine.

The looks above from Altuzarra Resort 2014 are my favorite of the collection.  Love how these looks include elements of romantic (via soft fabrics, lace, etc.) and the sophisticated-chic (via precise tailoring and jackets) for which Altuzarra is known.
