A Low-Key New Year's Eve Outfit

New Year's Eve will be a low-key one for me this year, so I'll probably wear something similar to the outfit below.  I don't actually have any hot pink shoes, but if I had the ones below (on my wishlist!), I'd wear them!

Hot this season: Designer Parody

This season (and really this past year) high-end fashion brands were parodied in a multitude of ways.  One of my favorite parody tees is "Ballinciaga" by @COI_NYC.

COI (Conflict of Interest) is a fictitious government agency that confiscates "unlicensed" designer goods and releases a few select items to the public in tamper-resistent Evidence bags.

Talk about total brand packaging...this is how I received my tee:

Obsession of the week - 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Messenger Bag

Generally, I'm not crazy about messenger bags for their intended purpose.  When you carry them as a cross-body bag, the strap creates all sorts of havoc on whatever you're wearing on top.  The strap often digs into your chest pulling on your shirt in the process, and the bag hits your hip consistently on one spot.  I do, however, love messenger bags when I can throw them under my arm as an oversized clutch; or carry them by the handle like a purse or bookbag.  As an advantage of technically being a messenger bag, you always have the strap for the short periods of time where you may really need to be hands free.

My favorite messenger bag is the 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Messenger bag.  It's dimensions of 10"x12"x3" make it the perfect size to carry as an oversized clutch; yet large enough to hold an electronic device, cosmetics, wallet, notepad, etc.
Bought the 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Messenger bag in "Bright Fuschia" this past week.  It is the perfect shade of pink (not too berry and not too neon).  Looking forward to adding another bright pop of color to all the blacks and grays in my wardrobe this season!

As a slow adopter of the buying online trend, I have to admit that I'm quickly getting addicted to it.  Clearly more convenient with free shipping and returns, but there is also something so exciting about getting a package in the mail.  Kind of like getting a present...

Another pic of the bag to show how it it!

What I bought...

So this is what I bought at Lucky Shops.  Surprised?  Thought I was lying when I said I "exercised some serious fiscal restraint"?  As a matter of fact, some of the items are Christmas gifts so I guess that makes it even less of a splurge.  Doesn't it?  Anyway, now I'm experiencing the reverse of buyers remorse.  There were some amazing deals, and in hindsight I should have taken more advantage of them...  C'est la vie!

Thursday Friday bags are a parody of our obsession with high-end designer bags while maintaining respect for the beauty of these bags.  Love Thursday Friday bags for their statement-making whimsy, utilitarian function(lightweight canvas material), and they're pretty!

Lucky Shops NY

Over the years, I've gone to many shopping events in NYC, and Lucky Shops is by far one of my favorites.  First of all, they attract some amazing vendors such as 10 Crosby Derek Lam, Joie, Kelly Wearstler, Milly, Rebecca Taylor, The Outnet, Alex Woo, Ettika, Jane Basch, Lucid New York, Foley + Corinna, Rebecca Minkoff, Clare Vivier to name just a few.  The event is very well organized.  But the thing I love the most about Lucky Shops is their incredible discounts(up to 70%!).  Went to their event yesterday and had to exercise some serious fiscal restraint.  I wanted to buy something from almost every vendor!!

Below are some of my pics:

I was dying for the adorable gold charms below.  Wanted to get them all...

Hope to see you at their next event!

A Statement Necklace...

For a neutral and/or minimal wardrobe, the statement necklace is a godsend.  Love that it's a major trend now since I use these necklaces all the time to dress up my black and white tops.

Obsession of the Week[s] - My Ash Shoes

These wedge sneakers have gone from wardrobe accessory to wardrobe necessity!  I know that may sound a little dramatic, but it's true!  I've always had the dilemma of finding shoes that I could wear all day in the city (going to casual meetings and events, shopping, fashion shows, etc.), yet has a style that would work with the rest of my outfit.  Also, a heel is imperative, not because I'm short but because it's flattering!!  The Ash Shoes pictured above definitely fit the bill!  Bought them a couple of months ago along with another shown(obsessed about) here and I can't figure how I got on in the past without them...
